Our Design Process
Our Design Team brings the same attention to detail to all of our projects, both large and small, with an emphasis on aesthetics, functionality and efficiency. We are available to meet with you on site, in your home, or in our office to provide you with an overview of our process and the Sun Forest Team. This allows us to get to know you and better understand your vision.
Vision for your new or remodeled home
We take the time to understand your project goals, architectural style preferences, budgetary goals, and numerous other details to ensure that our design team can create a home that fulfills your expectations. We then guide you through the journey of creating a floor plan, capturing site views, conforming to community design standards and selecting finishes.
After these first two steps have occurred our design team is able to provide you with a conceptual design for your new home or remodel project. This design consists of a general floor plan and perspective views.
When you are satisfied that the concept of your vision has been correctly understood and represented in the conceptual design; the real fun begins. You will work with Glenn, and his team, in developing your final design plans. Based on the scope of your project, this process could take as little as a week (for a small remodel) or many months (for a complex, custom home).
The Sun Forest design team uses Revit, a state-of-the-art software that allows them to bring ideas from concept to construction with a coordinated and consistent model-based approach. The renderings produced by this BIM (Building Information Modeling) software will allow you to be involved in the look and feel of your project throughout the design process; a great step forward from the "old" paper and pencil design days.
We believe the Sun Forest Design Team is the most “client friendly” in all of Central Oregon. Whatever style of home you have in mind, we have probably already built it. From the initial floor plan to the “photo like” renderings of your home, our team is without peer in terms of helping you bring your dreams to reality.
Because our in-house Design Team and Cost Estimator work very closely with you throughout the process, we do a great job of eliminating the communication breakdowns which are all too common in our industry. If not handled properly, the design process can be full of frustration, costly delays, battles with Design Review Committees and cost overruns due to a disconnect in design and estimating conversations (or lack thereof). Over the past 35+ years, we have successfully navigated these waters for hundreds of clients in resort communities and neighborhoods throughout Central Oregon.
